I owned a very expensive pair of bolt cutters that could cut break through any lock and chain combination. I would break into fenced in car lots in the middle of the night and steal brand new cars, drive them to a Bronx car shop that did business at those hours and make a thousand dollars, go to a nightclub and drink some beers then catch a train home. I knew some younger guys in my neighborhood who looked up to me because they liked my attitude and style. They were good guys who just needed some direction. Once they became old enough to drive I took them with me one night and showed them how to steal cars out of a fenced in lot. They all stole a car and followed me in a cavalcade of gleaming metal and glass to the Bronx. They made more money in one night than they had in their whole lives. They eventually started their own theft ring and had great success until the cops put them away. They knew what it felt like to not be poor before they died
